Caitlin O’Connor, the actress who participated in the video for “Astronaut“, made an exclusive interview to the Conexão Simple Plan. In the interview, Caitlin was very friendly and told us many details about the recording of the video for “Astronaut”, sent us a new photo and more. Check out the interview below:

CSP: How many hours were necessary to record the video? Was it too tiring? Were there too many people involved?
Caitlin: I was on set for about eight hours during Day 1 and five hours during Day 2. It was not tiring, but the wind was blowing pretty hard in the dry lake bed where we filmed, which caused my hair to fly around the entire time! It wasn’t too tiring, but putting on the Astronaut suit was tiring! There were a small amount of people involved compared to other productions I have worked on.
CSP: What was the most difficult part to record? And the funniest?
Caitlin: The most difficult part to record was the kissing scene. We had to get the lighting just right and had to film quickly because the sun was setting and they were losing light.
CSP: To the new actresses the only dream about being in a Simple Plan videoclip, what do you think it’s necessary to be chosen?
Caitlin: I was chosen during an audition and originally, casting was looking for a brunette. So, all it takes is a little luck and confidence when you walk into the audition room.
CSP: How is working with Simple Plan? Can you describe how they were? (Each one of them – the funniest one, the most excited one, the most anxious one, the most nervous, the calmest one…)
Caitlin: During the video shoot, I only shook hands with each member of the band once for a very brief amount of time. It was a few months later, when I attended one of their performances at Warped Tour, that I got the chance to meet the guys for a little longer and they are all very nice! Pierre’s wife was pregnant when I met her – they are a very cute couple!
CSP: Did you already know about Simple Plan work before being in “Astronaut” videoclip? Is there any song you like and listen very often?
Caitlin: I knew of Simple Plan before I shot this music video – I listened to them growing up in Pennsylvania – they were always on MTV’s TRL.
CSP: To you, what was the best part of the video?
Caitlin: The best part of the video was getting to kiss a handsome actor and work with such a successful band!
CSP: Did you talk to all of the guys? If yes, tell us something about it.
Caitlin: No, I didn’t talk to all of the guys during the video shoot – they were busy filming their performance scenes and they arrived just as I was wrapping my scene up. We took a photo together quickly before they did an interview with MTV.
CSP: What did you think about video’s director work?
Caitlin: The director of the video, whom can be seen in the behind-the-scenes footage on YouTube was absolutely great to work with and we both like eating at the restaurant Chipotle so I think he’s pretty rad.
CSP: What the sentence “Being human is the most terrible loneliness in the universe” represent to you?
Caitlin: That sentence represents the bigger picture of life and the eventual realization that each individual’s journey is a solo adventure. No matter how many people one can surround themselves with, in the end, we are born, we live, and we die alone.
CSP: Did the clothes you and Nick Gamez were wearing increase the heat?
Caitlin: Yes, the Astronaut suits were very warm, but it was a chilly California day so I was happy to be warm!
CSP: Do you have any pictures of the making of that you can send to us?
Caitlin: I have attached some photos.
CSP: Did you follow exactly the script or the guys/the director accepted suggestions?
Caitlin: We followed the script pretty precisely.
